Gary Haines asks about "Hole Saws vs Annular Cutters"
I need to drill holes into 3/16" thick 6061-T6 aluminum. The hole sizes will be 7/8", 1,3/8" and 1,3/4". I will need to drill 200 holes using each size of bit.

Will using Hole Saws be more economical, or would they wear out faster, thus making Annular Cutters a better choice?

Also, after drilling the holes, i need a way to Bevel the outer edge of these holes
approximately 1/4 inch around the holes. Is there a tool for that? Perhaps a cone-shaped grinding tool?

Thanks: Gary Haines.

Answer:
1 annular will do 200 holes IN STEEL, now heat treated aluminum is as hard as steel (and if you watch Star Trek aluminum can be clear and as hard as steel), well the clear part not yet, but the hard as is. So as long as your aluminum is not hardened then 1 each of the annular will do the job, BUT.... hate that... do you have an annular (magnetic or suction cup) mag drill? you will need it to use annular cutters.

Paul Ng asks about "rock drilling"
What type of drill bit should I use to drill a hole about 2 inches into a rock ?

Answer:
Not so much type of drill bit as to type of power tool.

If you have a lot of holes then you need a spline shanked power tool Miwaukee Bosch Makita Hitachi all make them.

and then see this part # PBS200018 on this link.

if you only have a few holes to do and you do not have a Spline type power hammer drill then try this bit.

Rob asks about "Drill bit"
Need a drill bit capable of drilling through hardened metal (screw extractor). In sizes smaller than 5/16.

Thanks!

Rob

Answer:
These are made to do this. Carbide tip is brazed in so keep RPM down..

Levon Habener asks about "deep hole drilling"
     Hello john.
I have a need for drilling holes 30" deep by 2" diameter.
My goal is to use a super premium forstner bit as i need the interior of the hole to be as smooth as possible. Is there a drill extension that can extend a forstner bit to that length or is there other options available for this project. also what type of machinery should i be looking at to ensure that i get a perfect straight hole?
thanks, levon

Answer:
I am assuming you are drilling into wood.

You will need a lower RPM high torque power tool.
Milwaukee 1670-1 1/2 Inch Reversing Drill is one that can do it.

Then you have 2 choices SelfFeed bit (forstner) or a Ship auger and with both you will need extensions.

SAE.43724 extention.
SA2.00018 2" x 18 ship auger
or
SFB2.000 2" Self Feed bit

mark mclaughlinb asks about "24" long 1/2 wood drill with straight 3/8 shank"
     Hi

I'm trying to find this bit. My tree's trunk is splitting and and it's almost two feet in width. I have been able to locate only 18 inch long bits so far. Do you have a bit that's 24" that will drill a 1/2 hole and fit my 3/8 chuck drill?
Thanks
Mark

Answer:
I am not 100% sure of the shank diameter but i think it is 3/8, if it is not I can make it so.

Richard Hower asks about "drill bits"
Was just wondering what type of drill bit I would need to get to drill through stainless steel. The thickness is only like 1/32 to 1/16.

George asks about "masonary drilling"
I have to drill 8 holes 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 diameter through the foundation of my home, I belive the cement is around 8" thick. I have a SKIL 1/2" chuck electric hammer drill. what do you have that will do the job. I need to order ASAP. would like to drill by friday

Answer:
With the power tool you have see this link. All the larger diameter bits have 1/2 shanks.

You have some tough work ahead. Carbide tipped bits like being leaned on in this type of job, so push as hard as you can.

John Dougherty asks about "Long drill bits"
I need a 15mm dia drill bit that is at least 18" long. I can use a shorter one if the shank is 12 or 1/4" BUT the extension head diameter must be smaller than 15mm.
Can you help with the bit or bit and extension?

Please contact me as soon as possible.

Answer:
The closest I have ready to ship is .593.

.591 is 15mm.

I am assuming that you are trying to drill metal.
